    I think you've misunderstood the chapter. The Thanagarian army in the system Paul was in didn't know it was taking place, there's nothing about the Thanagarians local to the planet not being able to vote or not knowing about it. They were just outnumbered.

    This is YJ Superman, not silver age. He's a fairly weak version of the character and these shields completely no-sell kinetic energy. He isn't going to overload it by punching it. Eye beams maybe.

    He's still got the inertia shield he used to no-sell earth-12 Wonder Woman's strength if he remembers it, along with the ability to call every lantern on the planet with his ring. Between them all they could probably break the environmental shield he's wearing and contain him.
